The International Theatre Laboratory Workshop is proud to present the US premiere of

    Alex van Warmerdam’s
    Welcome to the Woods
    (Welkom in het Bos)

Translated from the original Dutch play & Directed by Erwin Maas

    Witzenhausen Gallery (232), NYC – November 14th - December 10th, 2009

“Life... a comic tragedy, a tragic comedy, or a walk in the woods”

Welcome to the Woods is ‘Revolutionary Road meets Little Red Riding Hood’. Its series of remarkable dialogues unfolds like a tragic-comedy, or is it a comic-tragedy? Three actors find themselves in a wonderfully bizarre fairy-tale-like world, where nature, sex, imagination, and religion come together in an unusual discussion about the significance (and insignificance) of life and meaning.

“This typical Dutch play was written by one of Holland’s most iconic playwrights / filmmakers who has been awarded numerous prestigious European theatre & film prizes. It takes us to a slightly alienated universe in which a woman’s flee from the life she’s leading turns into a prison she can’t escape. Welcome to the Woods is a true Van Warmerdam play: surprising, intriguing, and mercilessly funny.”

A free beer generously offered by HeinekenUSA to make it all the more a Dutch treat!!!
