Wednesday, April 22, 7 pm Ab Baars Trio with Ken Vandermark Dutch musician-composer Ab Baars (tenor saxophone, clarinet, shakuhachi) has garnered international acclaim for his solo and ensemble music. The Ab Baars Trio, composed of Wilbert de Joode (bass) and Martin van Duynhoven (drums), incorporates improvisational jazz techniques with a strong Dutch influence. Chicagoan Ken Vandermark (tenorsax, clarinet) brings to the ensemble an American jazz sensibility. A MacArthur Fellow, his accolades include All About Jazz’s “Musician of the Year” and one Down Beat Magazine’s “25 for the Future,” for the most significant improvising musicians under the age of 40. Chicago is the last destination for their collaborative tour.
