*** The 31st Peter Stuyvesant Ball - Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt New York ***

When we gather on November 16th for the Peter Stuyvesant Ball, we hope that the personal disruptions of Hurricane Sandy will be behind us. We will, however, not be able to celebrate at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers. While its location on the Hudson made it an especially beautiful place to hold and event, it also made it vulnerable to severe flooding during the storm. Luckily, a familiar and first-rate venue is available to us - the Ball is being moved to the totally refurbished ballroom of the Grand Hyatt New York, at 42nd and Lexington Avenue - the scene of several prior elegant Peter Stuyvesant Balls.

    Hope to see you there!

CELEBRATING THE 400th BIRTHDAY OF PETER STUYVESANT

The Peter Stuyvesant Ball Committee Chairman, Henk J. Guitjens, has announced the Ball will celebrate the 400th birthday of its namesake, the last Dutch Director-General of the colony of New Netherland. The festive black-tie gala will take place on Friday, November 16th at the totally refurbished ballroom of the Grand Hyatt New York, at 42nd and Lexington Avenue.

The 31st Peter Stuyvesant Ball sponsor, JFK International Air Terminal, wholly owned by Schiphol USA, and its President, Alain Maca, will take the lead in the celebrations: Kurt Dykstra, Mayor of the City of Holland, Michigan, will be Master of Ceremonies. The evening begins at 7 pm with cocktails and an amazing silent auction and raffle display, followed by a delectable dinner with a touch of Dutch and dancing to the music of Gerard Carelli and his Orchestra.

The grand finale is the Nightclub at Freddy’s Bar, with libations compliments of Heineken USA and featuring, by popular demand, Dave Brown and the Versatiles.

The Peter Stuyvesant Ball is a treasured annual tradition, where leaders and friends of the Dutch-American community gather in support of the NAF’s vital activities. Please use form below to reserve tables or tickets, place an advertisement or make a donation in lieu of attendance. And, to honor Peter Stuyvesant’s commitment to education, you may consider the option of also supporting a NAF-Fulbright Fellowship for an American student to spend academic year 2013-14 on post-graduate studies at a university in the Netherlands.
