    His Excellency The Minister of Finance of the Netherlands

    Jan Kees de Jager

    After a brief introduction by Mr. De Jager, the discussion with the NAF-Biz New York audience will focus on the experiences of Dutch entrepreneurs in the US. As reflected in his short bio below, Mr. De Jager is a successful entrepreneur himself. He is one of the decision makers in the European Union’s Ecofin Council.

    BRIEF BIO Mr. De Jager

    Jan Kees de Jager has been the Minister of Finance (CDA) since February 23, 2010 in Kabinet Rutte and in Kabinet Balkenende IV. He previously served as “Staatssecretaris van Financien” from February 22, 2007 until February 23, 2010 and was a member of “De Tweede Kamer” from June 17, 2010 till October 14, 2010.

    De Jager studied at the Nijenrode Business University where he received his BBA degree in 1990. Subsequently, he studied at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam where he obtained an MSc degree in Economic Sociology and Business Economics in 1994. He also obtained an LLM degree at the same university in 1996.

    In 1992, while still in university, De Jager founded IT company Spectra Vision. All business activities were handed over to ISM eCompany (Innovative Solutions in Media) in 1997, the company of which De Jager was CEO until his appointment to the cabinet on February 22, 2010.

    De Jager is socially involved in different activities. He was a member of the executive board of the Christian Democratic Appeal and organizations of various social and economic issues.


    NAF-Biz New York is a platform for the exchange of international business management information, experiences and ideas among the Dutch professional community in the New York City area and U.S. professionals who do business with the Netherlands.

    NAF-Biz New York operates under the auspices of the Netherland-America Foundation (NAF). The board of NAF-Biz New York consists of Mesut Celebi (Nyox International), Yvette Daoud (Consulate General of the Netherlands), Jan Joosten (Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP), Wouter Plantenga (TMF Group), Erik Storteboom (Rabobank International) and Jacob Willemsen (TABS Inc.).

    NAF-Biz New York organizes networking events, with high level speakers who will discuss a topic or business case, intended to spark discussion and transfer valuable experience among NAF-Biz New York participants.
