    Citizen U.S.A: A 50 State Road Trip
The allure of starting a new life in the United States shows no sign of faltering as each year, close to one million people from over 150 countries become American citizens. Who are these new Americans and why do they want to live here? Award-winning documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi takes an uplifting and illuminating look at the naturalization process in America in Citizen U.S.A: A 50 State Road Trip. Beginning with the swearing-in ceremony of her own Dutch-born husband, Michiel Vos (who produced this and several other HBO Films with his wife), Pelosi travels across the U.S. to attend naturalization ceremonies in all 50 states, where she meets brand-new citizens and probes why they chose America as their home. Inspired by her husband Michiel’s desire to join her and their two children as a U.S. citizen, Pelosi sets out across America to attend naturalization ceremonies in all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, meeting a diverse group of new citizens from all walks of life. The documentary intersperses stories of newly naturalized citizens with interviews from notable first-generation Americans, including Madeline Albright, Arianna Huffington, Henry Kissinger, and Gene Simmons.
